Want Lists
Please send us your want lists. We will search auctions, private sales, etc… looking for what you need in a range of venues not usually accessible to the public or casual collectors. We have a large inventory as well as a large network of dealer and collector friends that we can tap helping you to find the toughest of coins or notes.
Selling
We use traditional or Early American Coppers grading for raw or unslabbed coins and paper money. For third party graded material, we will offer our opinion of the grade if asked.
We also use silver PLUS, gold CHOICE, blue GEM, and red RED stickers to indicate superior notes and coins for the slabbed grade. These will be the coins and paper money for the quality conscious. Currently we are using these stickers for Fugio coppers and paper money and may expand into coinage areas that CAC reviews as well. This is not third party review, but it is my assessment as a conservative grader with an eye for quality.
Buying
We are strong buyers of coins and paper money that are choice or rare. We also are strong buyers of interesting large and small groups of coins and paper money. We have handled hundreds of the rarest varieties of Confederate and obsolete bank notes as well as early American coppers. We also have handled large hoards and collections up to and including a complete depository of CSA money (tens of thousands of notes).
Please send scans or pictures to get a rough idea of what your collection might be worth. Note, I do not pull the bait and switch routine by offering a sky-high price only to dash your expectations when I receive your collection. I try to give a reasonable range of my buy price based on scans and assumptions about condition that must be verified with the actual note.
Please ship your collection with confidence as I am a well-known author, collector and dealer. And a member of the Professional Numismatists Guild, Professional Currency Dealers Association and a past president of the Society of Paper Money Collectors. We will also travel for large collections and meet locally in safe places such as libraries and shows.
Consignment
I believe this is an excellent way to sell you collection and make the most return if you have some patience. Unlike auctions where your coins may be divided into the regular and late night internet sales with a couple of weeks of exposure and 15-20 seconds on the block, we produce, publish and promote lists and catalogs of your collection in a holistic and sensible manner. Your collection gets a lot of exposure over time to the active collector and dealer base as well as collectors who may need to save up for a particular item or are wary of auction venues. Commission rates are lower offering you greater value – auctions range from 17.5% to 20% buyer fees and add anywhere from 0% to 15% seller fees. We offer more control over pricing and discounting.

Appraisals
We will offer a dealer buy price value for your collection as the appraised value which is a real value that you can actually realize.
Consulting
We also offer consulting services ranging from helping you build a plan of attack to build a collection, grade your collection, appraise it, make recommendations on how to sell it (including us and other venues depending on what you have and what we are best suited to buy and sell at the time of consultation).
Auction Representation
We attend a lot of auctions in person and can review lots in the metal or paper whether 3rd party graded or not. While third party grading has helped standardized grading to some degree, it really is not a standard and there can be wide variations in quality in the same graded holder across multiple items. We will advise a price for what we think is reasonable for an item based on our quality assessment. For a nominal commission, we will execute bids for you on your account.
